چکیده

Objectives: In our study, radiation of a higher dose per fraction (2.75 Gy/fraction, total 55 Gy/20 fractions/4 weeks) with concomitant chemotherapy was compared conventional chemoradiation (2 66 Gy/33 fractions/6 and half weeks, chemotherapy), in patients locally advanced squamous cell carcinomas head neck terms efficacy toxicities. Methods: A 75 registered at the Department Radiotherapy, NRS Medical College Hospital, Kolkata, were allotted two arms chronologically 1:1 ratio. Arm – Patients received hypofractionated radiotherapy, fractions 4 weeks weekly cisplatin (40 mg/m2). B 6½ Results: Both toxicities, hypofractionation arm comparable to arm, no statistically significant difference present between arms. For study complete response 56.6%, partial 36.6%, for control 50% 37.5% (p=0.750). acute toxicities late dysphagia, both almost similar. Conclusion: The regimen associated tolerable satisfactory local control. Considering patient load, overall treatment time, cost hospital stay, this is good option low-resource setup.

Concomitant Chemoradiation versus Accelerated Radiotherapy in Selected Cases of Locally Advanced Carcinoma Cervix – A Prospective Study

Introduction : Although concomitant chemoradiation (CTRT) is the standard of care for locally advanced cervical cancer (LACaCx), it cannot be administered safely in elderly patients or those with certain comorbidities. Aims: To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of six fractions per week of pure accelerated external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) with standard CTRT, for selected patients with LACa...

Role of concomitant chemoradiation in locally advanced head and neck cancers.

Standard therapy for advanced head and neck cancer consists of a combination of surgery and radiation. However, survival of this patient population has not improved during the past 20 years. Many different multimodality treatment schedules have been proposed, and chemotherapy is often used with the intent of organ preservation. The present study was intended to establish the efficacy of concomi...

Postoperative irradiation with or without concomitant chemotherapy for locally advanced head and neck cancer.

BACKGROUND We compared concomitant cisplatin and irradiation with radiotherapy alone as adjuvant treatment for stage III or IV head and neck cancer. METHODS After undergoing surgery with curative intent, 167 patients were randomly assigned to receive radiotherapy alone (66 Gy over a period of 6 1/2 weeks) and 167 to receive the same radiotherapy regimen combined with 100 mg of cisplatin per s...
